Internet search secrets is a recurring series of expert advice on finding what you need when you need it quickly. There are myriad Top 10, Top 20, ways to search the Internet. Notice I did not say Browse the Web! I specifically did not call it browsing because if you are browsing you are leisurely looking at what other people present you. AND THAT is OK too, don't get me wrong, but for those who seek data fast, like business or industry white papers, case studies and other pertinent material there is only one right way to search the Web. This is part one in a series of Web searching secrets that I am not going to place a maximum number on. Because you can't tell how many there are or will be based on the ever-changing and evolving Internet environment.

So this isn't part one of three, or ten, or twenty. It is Part one in however many we need. I think I might keep it under three since we can always amend the first or second prior to naming a third. Internet Search Secret Number 1 is pretty simple. Got to Google and use quotes. A search for the phrase Secrets of the Search Engines will result very different results than a search for the same phrase surrounded by QUOTES... Print out the results for a blanket search for the phrase Secrets of the Search engines, then print the results for "Secrets of the Search Engines" NOTE the quotes in the second search.

The phrase without the quotes told Google to find all the words or any of the words in any arrangement and even possibly one or two words from each word. So The following statement: "When I was traveling I SEARCHED for salvation and my car ENGINE died. I must admit a SECRET though, I did not change the oil in 30,000 miles." This paragraph has keywords that will be pertinent to the generic first search and could yield results in the search. HOWEVER, when you put the phrase into quotes, you force Google to return only that exact phrase. This will yield dramatically better results when searching for stuff on the Internet.
