Search Engine Optimization - Spider Safe Web Sites
Spider Safe URL

It was an industry accepted myth for many years that dynamic sites can't get catalogued, or spidered, efficiently. Since 1999, we have used an internal tool we call Spider Safe URL, and it has helped us grow our key-phrases in Google exponentially to over 14,000 key-phrases. These are natural search phrases, meaning free." The tool used to increase the degree of search engine optimization was used primarily in-house by the team, and only in the past few months, after producing a piece of the data for Marketing Sherpa, did they realize the possible value of the tool. The tool is like a pair of glasses that our server let Googlebot, and other spiders, borrow while they spider our dynamic site. Over seventy percent of all our search engine referrals/landing pages existed solely due to the fact that Spider Safe URL was implemented. I explain how to use your dynamic site as an automated key-phrase pump in the New Millennium Minds blog.

According to the Search Marketing Metrics Guide, by Marketing Sherpa, the team owns over fourteen thousand key-phrases in the natural search of the search engines, Google in particular. Spider safe URL can be downloaded at no cost, as shareware, by mentioning New Millennium Minds at ActivSoftware. The entire set of data provided by New Millennium Minds, also known as ActivSoftware, can be attained by purchasing the Metrics Guide through the Marketing Sherpa Web site.

There are legitimate ways to increase your search engine presence that include clean HTML, using < h 1 > tags versus other options, increasing exposure through dynamic portals such as blogs and even old fashion news releases through portals that create search engine optimized code like PRWeb for instance. Getting listed in DMOZ.org helps as well as using tools that optimize dynamic Web sites by removing characters such as question marks that haunt dynamic site. Spider Safe URL, provided as a free tool by ActivSoftware, is a great start, but yet, so many marketers aren’t even going that far yet.

Ever since we were published in the New York Times in 1996 for SEM, or SEO, there have been companies trying to pull the wool over marketers eyes. After all, it is far easier to pay somebody else to do the hard work rather than have to do it yourself. It is a rare occasion that you will find a search engine marketer who will take a regular paycheck to market something they do not own a piece of. And it is sometimes not even very quantifiable. It takes a long time, and a lot of work, and is more valuable than most even realize.

We’ve covered methods for using dynamic sites and Spider Safe URL to snag key-phrases allowing your customers to add key-phrases. We’ve also covered ways to use blogs to add to this affect. We partially covered the way in which Southwest Airlines used Press Releases to further add to key-phrase strategies. Now that SEO firms are beginning to increase the buzz about the new press release methodology we’re going to give you, the new millennium minds, the real insider low-down on the most effective way to use this strategy in an article posted at Rob Thrashers’ Authorsden link. Recent articles briefly glossed over this new strategy, but we will give detailed information only to readers at Authorsden and to readers of the New Millennium Minds blog.

What is the best way to approach search engine marketing and key-phrase generation? Well, we think we stumbled onto the answer. For over five years we have been increasing our total number of hits to our site through the search engines. About every six months the increase is over 50% and the monthly average also continues to climb. The simple answer is that as our dynamic forums, articles, etc. continue to grow in size, so too, do the number for key-phrases through which people find us. There is one simple reason for that. The dynamic portions of our site were made search engine spider safe and have begun to grow very rapidly as our internal links grow in number.

We helped Marketing Sherpa turn a myth about dynamic Web sites upside down. We showed our Web site statistics in order to provide Marketing Sherpa with the knowledge that properly prepared dynamic pages can, in fact, work as a valuable marketing tool by getting spidered correctly. This contradicted much of what has been previously written regarding dynamic pages. With Spider Safe URL it is possible and is free if you mention this blog over at ActivSoftware.

Key-phrase analysis and tracking reveal some amazing tidBytes. Internal studies indicated that about seventy percent of the new traffic to our Web site came through pages that only even exist due to an internal tool we use to create spider safe URL's. The tool is used to generate links within a dynamic site that are safe for the spiders to index. Nearly all the traffic to the site is, or was, generated through search engine and other referral sites. Over 80% is generated through Google key-phrases. A link to the case study will be provided in a later post to this blog.

It amazes me how many people claim to try to get to the top of the search engines only to be punished. Keyword stuffing, pretty much spamming the search engines, posting the same content numerous times, it’s all bogus, and, it all results in lower search engine rankings, not better ones. Yet, there are still people actually paying for bogus search engine marketing. I know of a very well informed business people who have told me that anything is better than what they’re doing now. NO, THAT’s NOT TRUE! And since when do intelligent business people think they can do no harm, no matter how poor the strategy?
